About

I’m a Staff Software Engineer, based in Amsterdam, with more than 15 years of experience building web applications and developer platforms. I design and build software products and platforms, turning complex engineering challenges into capabilities that deliver value to customers and engineering teams.

Currently, I work as a Staff Frontend Engineer at GitLab. My work has focused on the tools developers use to write and ship code: browser-based development environments, the AI capabilities built into them, and the editing experience across the product. Extensible architectures that let other teams build on what I ship, and shared foundations that several teams depend on. I’m drawn to problems with real constraints, like making all of this work in locked-down enterprise environments.

I’m passionate about software design and creating sustainable development processes. I enjoy exploring software design principles and patterns, both through reading and through my own discoveries. Additionally, I’m deeply invested in improving developer workflows by optimizing repetitive tasks, helping make the development process more balanced and efficient.

Outside of work I enjoy complex cooking projects, working out, playing the guitar, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
